Surgeon Details Treatment Following Patient's Devastating Stroke, as Med Mal Trial Continues

Dr. Alfred Harding describes his insertion of a blood filter into Margaret Roberts shortly after she suffered a stroke that disabled her. Roberts and her husband James claim two of Roberts' physicians did not do enough to prevent the stroke. 


Jacksonville, FL—The surgeon who inserted a blood clot-capturing filter soon after a Florida woman suffered a devastating stroke told jurors Tuesday the filter was not typically the first line of treatment for such clots, as the defense presents its case at trial against two doctors who treated the woman. Woman's Symptoms Following Pain Management Injection the Key as Med Mal Trial Opens

Update 12/14/2015: Jurors cleared Dr. Stephanie Smith of responsibility for the spinal complications Mittie Anglin claims have left her in pain and severely limited her ability to walk. 

Anglin's attorney, Andersen, Tate & Carr’s Render Freeman had requested more than $6.3 million for Anglin's continuing disabilities. 

Jurors took two hours to reach the verdict, capping a week-long trial focusing on Anglin's condition following the injection Smith performed. Read the full story on the verdict.
