Los Angeles — An elderly driver once charged with manslaughter and the family of the woman whose minivan he fatally struck accused Nissan North America of selling a sport utility vehicle with brakes it knew to be faulty at a trial that began this week in California state court.

Los Angeles — A closely watched bellwether trial in California state court over the supposed ovarian cancer risks from Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based products begins on July 17 and will be webcast live by Courtroom View Network, along with a critical weeklong hearing over the admissibility of expert witness testimony that took place in June.

St. Louis — A Missouri judge declared a mistrial on Monday in a lawsuit over the supposed link between Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based hygiene products and ovarian cancer, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled plaintiffs cannot file state court lawsuits in states where their alleged injuries did not occur.

It takes a lot for attorneys to make a name for themselves in just one one city or state, but it’s even harder to develop a national reputation as a “heavyweight.”
