Defense Verdict In Willis

Reading of the verdict in the Willis v. Reynolds tobacco trial, presided over by Hon. Judge Edward Nicholas.Tobacco extended its Engle-progeny winning streak to three-in-a-row (Budnick, Warrick, and Willis) with a defense verdict today in Willis v. R.J. Reynolds.

Jimmy Willis suffered from COPD and multiple types of cancer. As a result of a throat surgery for laryngeal cancer, Mr. Willis spoke through a hole in his throat.

The jury found that an addiction to smoking was not the legal cause of Mr. Willis' death.
