Miami, FL— Jurors this week awarded $1.3 million to the family of a Florida man for the role cigarettes played in his coronary artery disease. But they ultimately declined to award punitive damages in an unusual verdict that touched on questions concerning when punitive liability is triggered in suits stemming from a decertified class action against the nation’s tobacco companies.
