Update: GA Private-Plaintiff Opioid Trial Continued

Editor's note: This article has been updated to reflect a continuance in the case. 

Brunswick, GA— What would have likely been a first in-the-nation state court trial over private plaintiffs’ claims related to the opioid epidemic was continued on Monday, when jury selection was scheduled to begin. Decatur, GA— As jurors deliberated whether a car booster seat manufacturer was to blame for the catastrophic injuries a toddler suffered in a 2018 wreck, and after closing arguments in which attorneys for the child’s family suggested jurors consider awarding well over $100 million, the parties settled the case last Friday.
