Earlier this month the United States Supreme Court upheld a landmark $2 billion award from a 2018 trial in Missouri involving 22 women alleging they developed ovarian cancer from exposure to Johnson & Johnson's cosmetic talc products.
Courtroom View Network provided exclusive gavel-to-gavel video coverage of that historic trial, which featured legendary plaintiff attorney Mark Lanier of The Lanier Law Firm. Thanks to our friends at Chartsquad, CVN is excited to offer, for a limited time, free access to the full opening statements in the case, both from Lanier and defense counsel Peter Bicks of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP.
The trial, which stretched more than a month and was recorded gavel-to-gavel by CVN, ended with a $4.69 billion jury verdict. That verdict was ultimately reduced to $2 billion by a Missouri appellate court.
Besides getting a front row seat to watch two of the country's premier trial lawyers introducing jurors to the facts of one of the most significant product liability trials of the last 25 years, you can also see firsthand how both sides incorporated demonstratives into their openings - with digital images of the attorneys' slide presentations time-synced with the video.
